Hey bookworms! In my life as a reader, there have been a lot of books that disappointed me, but there have also been a lot of books that were even better than I expected. Those are the books I am going to talk about today. There have been a fair number of them, so let's count 'em down (in no particular order).

Witch and Wizard: The Lost by James Patterson

I know I have written about this book before, but it is absolutely worth mentioning again. This book made me look at the entire series in a whole new light and reevaluate my previous opinions. This book was so transformative that this series is now one of my all time favourites. I went in to this book with ridiculously low expectations, and my main reason for reading it was simply to finish the series, but it really elevated this series to a whole new level for me.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

I honestly should not have been surprised by this book. I mean it's right up my alley and I have not seen a single negative review about it. There was just something that had me putting off reading this book for literal years! I cannot believe what a mistake that was on my part. This book gave me all the feel good vibes of a Gilmore Girls episode. It's a heartwarming and entertaining story of first love, moving away from home and dealing with change. If you read this book, I would highly recommend reading it in the fall. It is the perfect back-to-school read.

The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd

I had to read this book for school in twelfth grade English class. We had a choice between maybe four or five books, and my teacher highly recommended this book to me. I always figure that the teacher would know best since they have most likely read all of these books, so I picked it up. Little did I know how amazing this book would turn out to be. It was good enough for me to go out and buy myself a copy afterwards. This book definitely deals with some tough subjects, and is not afraid to be a little dark and gritty, but I do not think the story would have been as impactful if it was told any other way.

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

The first Colleen Hoover book I've read and now she is an auto-buy author for me, so that should say something. I laughed, I cried and I ultimately fell in love with this book. The charm of Colleen Hoover's books is that they are utterly realistic. All of the characters' problems do not go away simply because they found someone to love. While telling a romantic story, Hoover also gives us a lot of character development and growth, specifically in this book. Get a box of tissues with this one folks.

Sisters of Sword and Song by Rebecca Ross

If you want my full thoughts on this book, make sure to read my book review on it. As for this post, I will say that this book seemed to have a pretty run of the mill premise, but it managed to blow every expectation that I had out of the water. I am not-so-patiently waiting for the day that we get a sequel to this book, as I am sure that there will be one. I love books with strong sister duo's, and this fantasy world pulls you in from the first chapter. Do yourself a favour, and pick this one up.

I will forever love these books, and they are the very definition of do not judge a book by its cover. These books all have my stamp of approval and I am excited to share them with you guys!
