Happy Holidays Bookworms! Today I want to show you the books that I am hauling this holiday season. Quick disclaimer, I know that the holidays are not all about gifts, but in the spirit of this blog, I thought it would be a fun post to do. Let me know what books you guys are hauling.
One of Us is Lying by Karen M McManus

This book is described as The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars, I really did not need much explanation after that. It follows a group of high school kids in detention who all become suspects after one of their classmates is murdered. This sounds like the perfect book to curl up with on a stormy night with a hot cup of tea.
Layover by David Bell

Apparently I enjoy a certain type of book. Another thriller. A man named Joshua is left reeling after having a romantic interaction with a woman who is classified as a missing person. This book will be interesting to read today especially, when it is dangerous and risky to even meet new people in general due to the pandemic. I am excited to read a book by a new-to-me author that I have not really heard anything about. This sounds like a good and easy read that I can quickly get through in the upcoming semester.
Good Girls Lie by J.T. Ellison

Yes it's another thriller, but what can I say? It's my guilty pleasure! From what I gather, it is a snake in the grass type of story about a boarding school that is not as perfect as it seems. I read another one of Ellison's books, Lie to Me, back in 2018 and absolutely loved it, so I have high expectations for this book.
Anxious People by Fredrik Backman

I have been seeing this book EVERYWHERE this year and have heard nothing but good things. This story follows a group of people who are taken hostage at an open house when a robber bursts in. The immediate premise reminds me of the movie 1BR on Netflix (I would definitely not recommend, but that is another post entirely), but hopefully done well. This book has also been on every list I have seen for the best books of 2020, so I am excited to start it.
The Toll by Neal Shusterman

If you have been following my Goodreads (which you totally should), you would see that I am currently reading Thunderhead, the second book in the Arc of a Scythe series. In reality, Andrew and I are working our way through the series together. I reread the first book while he read it for the first time, and now we are both in the second book for the first time. I love this series and honestly think it is the most well-written YA book series I have ever read. I would highly HIGHLY encourage reading this series.
Lord of Shadows and Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare
Yes I am grouping these 2 together, but they are for obvious

reasons. The 2nd and 3rd books in

The Dark Artifices series, I have been wanting to get the remainder of this trilogy since I finished Lady Midnight over a year ago. Lady Midnight is my favourite Cassandra Clare book, and I have
heard nothing but good things about the remaining two books in the series; specifically Lord of Shadows. I will definitely be reading both of these very early on in 2021.
November 9 by Colleen Hoover

As a ride or die Colleen Hoover fan, I am disappointed to say that I have yet to read November 9, one of her more popular and apparently one of her best books. I am not usually drawn to overly romantic novels, but something about how Hoover tells her stories cause me to buy every book she has ever written, and I am starting quite the collection. While this premise is not my favourite, lovers reunite each year on November 9th for the day, I have complete faith in Colleen's ability to make me fall in love with this book.
Confess by Colleen Hoover

Now that we have got my feelings about Colleen Hoover out of the way, it is easy to explain why I am excited about this book. Except rather than lovers meeting yearly, this book focuses on a woman trying to rebuild her life and falling for a damaged artist with a big secret. I have never given a Colleen Hoover book less than 5 stars, and it does not sound like I will be starting with this one.
That's the list everybody! Let me know if you have read any of these books and what you thought of them. I hope everyone is having a safe and happy holiday season and I will see you in my next post.
